Nathaniel + Courtney
Nathanial is from Ireland, he came over here to work on the horse farm Coolmore Stud ten years ago. Courtney is an artist and Equestrian enthusiast, they met at where else, McCarthy’s Irish Bar and the rest was history.
They had quite a few logistics they had to cover. For one, a ton of their wedding guests were traveling over from Ireland so they wanted a venue that was uniquely Kentucky but would allow them a later curfew as Irish weddings traditionally go all night. Courtney and her bridesmaids had wine nights where they got together and made all of the decor, even down to the bouquets. She wanted as much ‘sparkly’ things as possible and Nathanial wanted to have their dogs in the wedding photos.
They got ready at a custom Airbnb that they had their close family and attendants stay at as well as their rehearsal dinner. We worked the timeline to have plenty of time for pictures before the ceremony so they could spend as much time with their guests once it was official. It was hot, like over 100 on the heat index. We found lots of shade a took a lot of water breaks so everyone was relaxed and hydrated.
We headed to Cynthiana to The Prizing House for the ceremony which was full of laughter and tears, and Nathanial’s elderly grandparents and other relatives got to join in via Skype on iPads. The cocktail hour they had a traditional Irish band, Liam’s Fancy, playing tunes for the guests. After dinner they enjoyed hilarious speeches and dances. Once the DJ started they took to dance floor doing traditional Irish step dancing to Dropkick Murphy’s. It was an enchanted evening full of ‘the craic’ as the Irish would say, enjoy!
