emily + james

My first meeting with Emily and James was with their planner Kaelyn Query over tequila shots, I knew immediately they were going to be so fun to work with. James' first question was, "is it ok to include our dog", actually that might've been his only question, but what more do you need in life?!

They got ready and married at Mustard Seed Hill in Paris, Kentucky. The Historic home/schoolhouse is an absolute delight to shoot. There is so much character in every single room that of course Emily padded the timeline to include Bridal Portraits all over the house. Their dog "Rye" roamed between her upstairs and James downstairs until it was finally time to tie the knot!

The ceremony was held out front of the house and the reception was in a tent in the back. With no first look we used cocktail hour to take family photos, wedding party and the couples portraits. Let's talk about this reception decor for a minute, the theme of their wedding was THEIR DOG. No wonder that was James' first question! They tied the napkins like dog toys, had a custom portrait of Rye as their 'logo' and of course Rye was the flower girl as well. James is obviously a big bourbon fan so the groomsmen cake was a custom bottle of his favorite Blanton's. Their favors were buckets full of custom made craft beers that guests could drink at the reception and take home, they sent me with a six pack and man it was DELICIOUS. It started to absolutely downpour about the time the dancing started so we lost a lot of the guests to that and the chill it brought but Emily and James were just so happy to have gotten married and that the weather held off so long you'd never know it ended early. Enjoy!
